Apple UpdatesToday Apple updated all of its operating systems. macOS can be updated via Preferences app using the Update feature under “Software Update” icon. iOS and iPadOS can be updated over the air via Settings -> General -> Software Update. As for Apple Watch, your smart watch has to have at least 50% of battery, to be placed on charger and in range of paired iPhone. tvOS for Apple TV can be updated via System -> Software Update. As usual, make sure you have backed up all your important data on at least two secure external media or backup system, like external disk, NAS or even cloud. You should always backup your data, regardless of whether you are updating your system or not.

As for macOS Catalina, no major changes were found. If you liked column browser in iTunes, now it’s back.

iOS and iPadOS update got some new features, which were promised for iOS 13, but Apple delayed them. One of them is Communication Limits for Screen Time. Communication Limits let parents control who their children are able to contact, with the feature covering FaceTime, Phone, Messages and iCloud Contacts. Calls to emergency numbers are always allowed and when placed, will turn off communication limits for 24 hours to make sure children are safe and not restricted from communicating with people in the event of an emergency. New update also brings support for physical NFC, USB and Lightning FIDO2-compliant security keys in Safari. Physical security tools for 2FA are always more secure than software based ones. For example, did you know that classic SMS flies through the air without encryption as plain text?

watchOS update is just a bug fix release.

tvOS got little, but smart setting that’s designed to let you change the main banner interface in the ‌Apple TV‌ app from What to Watch to Up Next, which displays content from shows that you’re already watching rather than show suggestions. Just go to Settings -> Apps, and select TV app. Then select Home Screen and choose “Up Next” in the “Top Shelf” section. No other major changes were spotted, it looks like Apple aimed for bug fixes.
