Apple releases new iPhones usually on September event. iPhone SE was announced on March 2016 and since then, no updates of hardware were released. Though current iPhone SE is still powerful device thanks to its A9 SoC and iOS optimization, some updates, not limited to SoC, like better camera or faster Wi-Fi would be good. Also, Android users may laugh that current iPhone SE only got 2 GB of RAM. By rumors, new iPhone SE should get 3 GB of RAM, but no worries, till you don’t have opened many webpages and many resource-demanding apps, you won’t recognize that it has 3 GB of RAM and not 6 GB of RAM, like many Android deices. Apps in background are mostly “killed” or “refreshed” because of low remaining RAM, but iOS is optimized much better that Android devices, thanks to the fact that Apple designs both hardware and software. I have personally iPhone 6s with 2 GB of RAM (and latest iOS), so I know what I’m talking about.
And upcoming iPhones 12? It’s rummored they will get up to 6 GB of RAM, but it’s limited to Pro models – maybe called “iPhone 12 Pro” and “iPhone 12 Pro Max”. Basic model which should be called iPhone 12, will still get 4 GB of RAM, like current hi-end iPhones. iPhones released in 2020 should all support 5G.
Long-awaited iPhone SE 2 should be manufactured since February 2020 and announced on 2020 March Event. As for design, it will use desing of current iPhone 8 with 4.7-inch dispaly and Touch ID. It will be equiped with A13 Bionic SoC, 3 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and storage of 64 GB and 128 GB. Offered colors will be Space Gray, Silver and Red with price set at 399 USD.
Apple does not make low-end iPhones. iPhone SE 2 will be middle-class model, with hi-end Soc (A13 Bionic), which will aims to Android users, persuading them to move to Apple ecosystem. No more “iPhone is too expensive”. Also, if you are trying to find hi-end Android smartphone with compact size, you should know that’s it’s almost impossible. All modern current hi-end smartphones are just too big, so iPhone SE 2 is good tactic to get higher market share.
