New 16-inch MacBook Pro from Apple?

MacBook Pro Touch BarToday’s biggest laptop from Apple has a 15.4-inch display. In the past, in the 2011, Apple discountinued its 17-inch sized MacBooks Pro. It’s not clear why Apple did it, but many IT professionals would value a big laptop. When I in 2013 upgraded my aging 13.3-inch MacBook White to 15.4-inch MacBook Pro, it was something awesome, screen was much bigger. Because I love big displays, after three years I got 27-inch iMac and sold my MacBook Pro. And as a laptop replacement for my mobile needs, I have chosen the 12.9-inch iPad Pro instead of smaller models – yes, because of the big screen. Really big screen. Just love it.

According to rumors from multiple sources, like research firm IHS Markit, Apple plans to release a 16-inch MacBook Pro in September. Probably it will be still a LCD display with a resolution of 3072×1920 pixels. In compare to 15.4-inch MacBook Pro models, they got a resolution of 2880×1800 pixels. Display should be manufactured by LG Display. It was also rumored that it’s possible that Apple will use OLED displays from Samsung, but now it looks like Apple will stay at LCD technology.

Famous, well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in February said, that Apple will release a 16-inch MacBook Pro at some point in 2019 with all-new design, but he did not mention if it will use OLED or LCD technology. This new MacBook Pro should be powered by a newer CPU, no other details are known.

Why you should trust research firm IHS Markit? This corporation has an entire dedicated team dedicated to display-related research. From the past, for example, they accurately revealed a 10.5-inch iPad’s Pro resolution.

In September, Apple will probably reveals new iPhones. But according to the past, Apple never released new Macs at iPhone event. It’s possible that new rumored MacBook Pro may be revealed in October, maybe alongside new iPads Pro. Or will Apple surprises us at the September event?
