Toshiba licensed a number of developments at the company ARM

Toshiba Corporation entered into a license agreement with ARM, dedicated to the development of microprocessor architectures.

Under the terms of the signed contract, Toshiba licenses technology from ARM associated with multi processors Cortex-A9 MPCore. These chips are designed to provide high performance in reduced power consumption. Processors Cortex-A9 MPCore intended for use in smartphones, mobile Internet devices, as well as consumer electronics devices. According to the developers, processors Cortex-A9 MPCore provide speed up to 2,5 DMIPS (million operations per second to test Dhrystone) per 1 MHz.

In addition, the license agreement between Toshiba and ARM processors affects Cortex-R4F, intended for use in cars and embedded systems, peripheral components PrimeCell, CoreSight debug technology and a number of other developments. Financial terms of the contract is not disclosed.

We should note that Toshiba Corporation and previously licensed technology, the rights to which belong to ARM. For example, last summer Toshiba entered into a license agreement on the use of CPU kernel ARM Cortex-M3 in Microcontrollers for automotive applications.
