In the second half of the year, AMD expects to return to profitability
American company AMD in the second half of this year expects to return to profitability and to actively promote their products on the market.
Several recent quarters AMD has a substantial loss because of buying the Canadian company ATI, stiff competition from Intel and an unfavourable economic situation in the United States. In the first quarter of this year, AMD has incurred net losses of $ 358 million dollars, equivalent to 59 cents per share. In the fourth quarter of 2007, AMD losses amounted to 1.77 billion dollars.
However, AMD head Hector Ruiz looks to the future with optimism. As noted by Reuters, referring to statements Ruiz, AMD now is on the final stage of integration with ATI and is taking measures to reduce costs. In the second half of the year, AMD plans to launch a major marketing campaign to promote its graphics solutions. In addition, AMD is considering the possibility of concluding partnership agreements with other manufacturers to build a new factory for the manufacture of semiconductor products.
Worth mentioning that AMD recently introduced a new trademark Game, which will be marketed under the personal computers for gaming enthusiasts. Game logo on the case will show that the PC hardware components chosen to ensure good performance in games and give an opportunity to view high-quality graphics. In addition, AMD late last month announced the hardware platform Business Class, targeted for use in the fields of small and medium businesses.
