Ask.com company buys Lexico

The search engine Ask.com has announced today the acquisition of Lexico, owns such popular sites Dictionary.com and Thesaurus.com. Through this transaction Ask.com search engine audience grow by 11%, said agency Reuters.

Ask Influence inside corporations IAC / InterActiveCorp is growing, as Internet conglomerate intends this year are four main areas of its business and focus on online media and advertising. Having bought Lexico, Ask hopes to increase its audience to 145 million unique users per month. Thus, the search engine may become the ninth largest in the world of online resources.

How much would lay out for the acquisition of Ask Lexico, has not been disclosed yet. It is expected that the transaction will be completed in the third quarter of this year. IAC Executive Director Jim Safka believes that Ask.com quickly bring innovations to the work site Dictionary.com, in particular, the resource will demonstrate not only text but also video clips and images.
