In 2009, thanks to the efforts of companies Intelsat and Panasonic Avionics some scheduled flights, passengers can take high-speed Internet access directly to board airplanes. At that point Panasonic intends to start a service eXConnect, which will run on the basis of the existing satellite infrastructure GlobalConnex, owned by Intelsat.
With the help eXConnect passengers and crew members will be able to send and receive e-mail, connect to corporate networks, watch television in a live or simply seek information on the Internet of interest at a rate comparable to the capacity of terrestrial access points Wi-Fi.
EXConnect cost has not yet been determined, but according to unofficial information, hours of work in the Network will cost $ 12, per night and will take 22 dollar provider.
