Microsoft and Hyundai will jointly develop automotive media
Microsoft Corporation and South Korean automakers Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group (HKAG) signed an agreement on cooperation in the development of new information and entertainment systems for automobiles.
Under the terms of the contract, in the next few years, Microsoft and Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group intend to develop a number of innovative solutions based on software platforms Microsoft Auto. The first product, created jointly by the companies is expected to become a system with voice control, connecting on-board car mediatsentr with portable devices. Such a system should appear on the U.S. market in 2010. Subsequently, the new system will also be equipped with vehicles, supplies to Europe and the Asian region.
In addition, Microsoft plans and Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group includes the development of a new generation of multimedia and on-board navigational systems. Financial terms of the agreement between the companies has not yet been disclosed.
However, Microsoft, Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group and the Institute of Information Technology (IITA) signed a memorandum of understanding to build a new centre for innovation. As reported by Reuters, referring to information circulated by the official residence of South Korean president, in a joint center Automotive IT Innovation Center parties vlozhat order 280 million dollars. In doing so, Microsoft will allocate 113 million dollars, while the remaining funds will provide Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group.
