Rambus won a major judicial litigation with manufacturers of memory

The company Rambus this week won a major victory in the confrontation with the largest manufacturers of memory chips - Micron Technology, Hynix Semiconductor and Nanya Technology.

Pravda referred to, was initiated in 2000. Rambus was accused of improper obtaining patents on several technologies for the production of memory microchips. The point is that, by participating in the development of memory standards within the organization JEDEC, Rambus at the same time, a number of patented technologies in isolation, having exclusive rights to them. As a result, other organizations participating JEDEC, along with Rambus participated in the development of new types of memory have been in breach of patents. After that Rambus royalties demanded royalties from competitors, but those appealed to the court.

As Mercury News reported now, after nearly two months of hearings, the district court of San Jose ruled that if the registration of producers claimed Rambus memory patents company has not violated antitrust laws and did not use deception techniques. In other words, the court's decision means that Rambus patents are enforceable, and the company has every reason to demand the payment of royalties from manufacturers of memory using appropriate technology.

However, at this point in the multi-Rambus proceedings between the company and Micron Technology, Hynix Semiconductor and Nanya Technology put early. Micron and Nanya already discussing the possibility of an appeal the court's decision, so that litigation may be delayed for another few years. Shares Rambus, meanwhile, after the reading of the judgement immediately rose in price by 40% - 25.9 to the dollar.
