These days in San Francisco (California), the conference Open Source Business Conference (OSBC) 2008 dedicated software open source and their role in the information technology industry.

OSBC event, organized by InfoWorld magazine, targeted at developers of high-level managers, lawyers, specialists from different sectors of the economy, strategists and investors. The conference discussed the prospects for the development of the sector open source, new business models, charts proliferation of software products and pressing problem. According to Smith, Microsoft is ready to work closely with the community of developers of open source products. In doing so, Smith stressed that Microsoft believes that it is very important to the establishment of "lasting bridge, which would have connected the two opposing sides the software industry - commercial and open. During the conference OSBC also made a number of announcements of new products. Thus, for example, saw the light Beta Ubuntu 8.04. One of the main features of the operating system became optional Wubi installer to install Ubuntu to the existing Windows partition without losing any data. A company EnterpriseDB announced the release of new products ruler Postgres, based on freely distributed object-relational database management system PostgreSQL.
